HUNGER HELPS CONCENTRATION

As Irewamiri was feeding Olive, she said to me, “Darling, do you notice something about Olive?” She then continued that, “When Olive is really hungry, she concentrates on her feeding but when she is not, she gets distracted. She wants to see the face attached to every voice that is speaking”. I smiled and told Irewamiri that hunger helps concentration.

One of the things that you must never lose is the hunger for spiritual things. One of the things that the devil will constantly attack is your hunger for spiritual things. He wants you to have a starved and malnourished spirit.

When you feed your soul at the expense of your Spirit, you will make carnal decisions without thinking of the consequences. You will eat up a bowl of food and sell your birthright. You will wake up later and realise that your hunger for temporary things cost you more than you thought.

You must pray that the Lord should give you a hunger for His Word- whether it is in private devotion or corporate service. One of the traps you must avoid is “I know this already”. A scripture as popular as John 3:16 can have the answer you need locked up in it.

Be hungry for growth. One of the signs of hunger is the posture you take while in church. For instance, do you still take notes while teachings are going on? Do you return to read up your notes?

When you study the Word, is there a longing for more? Are you simply fulfilling a routine or is there a hunger that should be satisfied?

One of the things that God warned the nation of Israel against is the danger of becoming full: When you eat and are full, and build beautiful houses to live in, be careful that your heart doesn’t become proud and you forget the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the place of slavery. Deuteronomy 8:12‭, 14 HCSB

When there is no hunger for the things of God any longer, you will enter a zone of pride. That is the easiest zone for the devil to get you.

One of the secrets of David was his continual hunger and thirst for God. He described his thirst this way:

I long to drink of you, O God, drinking deeply from the streams of pleasure flowing from your presence. My longings overwhelm me for more of you! My soul thirsts, pants, and longs for the living God. I want to come and see the face of God. Psalms 42:1‭-‬2 TPT

How hungry are you for spiritual growth and for God himself? Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be filled.

Is your hunger blessed?

There is love in sharing
