The “C” s THAT WILL HELP YOU (8)- COUNSEL

Sometimes, in 2019, we perceived it was time to make a major move regarding our life and ministry. It was to bring a huge shift, and we began to take steps towards it. We believed that it was what the Lord would have us do. 

I had the opportunity to share with my spiritual father, and he told us two things that should be on the ground before we make such a move. It became the unconscious “prophetic” countdown for that decision. 

Four years later, we were returning from a trip right after that major move; we were so grateful to God for the counsel and guidance we received that season. We told ourselves that if we had made the move four years earlier, it would have been unwise and chaotic. 

Listen! Please listen, even if an angel comes to tell you that you will do something that looks really impossible and huge, be patient enough to listen through as he refers you to a human reference of that journey. 

Think about Mary- Mary is to give birth to Jesus supernaturally, but the angel made a reference to her cousin Elizabeth, who was called barren, that is now pregnant in old age. Mary did not just say ‘wow’. She went to connect with Elizabeth. 

Why? There will always be counsel that will flow if you listen to those who have walked the path. Many people genuinely caught a supernatural vision but were not patient enough or too proud to listen or receive counsel from men. 

You should claim the prophecy in Job 8:7 but do not neglect the counsel that follows immediately afterward. 

And though you started with little, you will end with much.

Job 8:7 NLT

Right after you say amen to the prophetic, trust God for alignment with men of counsel: 

Just ask the previous generation. Pay attention to the experience of our ancestors.

Job 8:8 NLT.

Why is that important? 

First, you are new, innocent or sincerely ignorant. Be humble to ask for counsel. 

For we were born but yesterday and know nothing. Our days on earth are as fleeting as a shadow.

Job 8:9 NLT

Second, the wisdom you will need as you navigate the stages of the vision will flow to you also. 

But those who came before us will teach you. They will teach you the wisdom of old.

Job 8:10 NLT

The height you are is dependent on the depth of counsel you receive. Great exploits move on the hinges of wise counsel. 

Counsel will keep you from crisis. 

Counsel will show you how to maximize seasons. 

Counsel will reveal how resources can harnessed. 

Counsel will show you the pitfalls you avoid. 

Counsel changes your stature. 

Never joke with counsel!
