THE HAND BAND SHE GAVE ME

My fiancee (as she then was) gave me a lovely hand-band. From the day she gave, I did not pull it out- I wore it to sleep. It did not leave my hands for thirteen months. As a matter of fact, to everyone else, it was just a hand-band but for me, it was something more than that. It was a reminder of my commitment to her.

I replaced the hand-band (which had already faded) on our wedding day with the wedding band. I gave the hand band to a protégé of mine that day.

Beloved, there must be a proof of your walk with God. If you have said Yes to the Lord, there must be something we see in you and about you that becomes different.

When the people in Antioch made a commitment to follow Jesus, the apostles sent Barnabas to Antioch to confirm what was really happening there. When Barnabas got to Antioch, he saw evidence.

“The power of the Lord was with them, and a large number of these Gentiles believed and turned to the Lord. When the church at Jerusalem heard what had happened, they sent Barnabas to Antioch. When he arrived and saw this evidence of God’s blessing, he was filled with joy, and he encouraged the believers to stay true to the Lord”.
Acts of the Apostles 11:21‭-‬23 NLT

If you are a believer indeed, we must see the evidence. The evidence that a tree is fruitful is the fruits. The proof of your believer’s walk is in the fruits that you produce. What proofs does your life carry?

Do you love or scheme, manipulate and try to control others? Are you patient or everyone gets a piece of your mind? Are you self-controlled or lustful? Is there a radiance that attracts or attitude that repels?

When you become a Christian, you begin a training in godliness where grace is the teacher (Titus 2:10-11)

Beyond gifts, we want to see the fruits. We do not just want to hear you speak in tongues, we desire to see you walk in love. You have no business any longer getting attention because your body is exposed. Dress well but make sure your inner beauty is so radiant that it breaks out externally.

Let there be proof that you have been with Jesus. They said the same about the apostles. Let it be said about you also.

Your commitment to him means that you are not playing games with anyone else. A picture frame in my parents’home has these words: “If you are accused of being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to prove it?”

Where is the proof that you said “YES” to the Lord?
