When I resumed the call to ministry in Eruwa, I realised that I would need men. The terrain I pastor is not where a lot of people would want to stay back and settle.
God answered! Today I am blessed with amazing men. God can give you the gifts of men but it must be your primary assignment to train and equip them.
If you are not labouring to win souls and disciple men, you will not have the blessing of men from the harvest of other people.
My spiritual father said to me when I asked what will be his 3 major priorities if he were to start ministry all over.
He said to me, “My first priority will be to build the people. My second priority will be to build the people. My third priority will be to build the people”.
Only built people can return to build the vision. If you are lazy about building people, you will always pray that the Lord should send men.
When God sends you men, he will send gifts in raw materials, you will still need to build them.
Gifted men will talk about stoning you in the middle of a crisis but built men will cross enemy lines to get you water to drink!
Great visions are not built on the shoulders of just employees and volunteers, they are built on the shoulders of men who are have seen the vision as theirs under God.
The men who make up your base must be people who have learnt of you. They must be like your Timothy. They know your life, purpose, pains and persecution.
They are not clones but they carry your Spirit and the spirit of the vision.
Did you know that Joab did not make it to the list of David’s mighty men?
