“YOU CANNOT HANDLE IT YET”

Danielle was playing some educational games on her mum’s tablet. Olive was observing and dancing to the music coming from the games. Some minutes later, she began to reach out and grab the tablet from her sister.

While she struggled to get it from her sister, I called out to her and said to her, “Olive, you cannot handle it yet. Your sister grew before she had it. Wait for your time also”.

Are we not like that often times than not? We see things that we admire in the life of others and we begin to desire and grab it but we have not paid the price nor have we gone through the process.

The challenge has never been with giving you, the challenge is that you cannot handle it. When you give a child what he or she cannot handle, the gift is spoiled and the child becomes sorrowful also.

God is always very patient. Apostle Peter knew this when he wrote: “The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.”
2 Peter 3:9 NLT

God is not slow. You are the one that is not patient. When the love of God places a restraint on you, do not lift it in a hurry. Let his hand finish the work so you can emerge as a masterpiece.

When you begin to interpret the dealings of God as a delay, you will build a golden calf.

The same John that wanted to call fire down on a village that did not welcome Jesus (Luke 9:54) became the one who endured persecution and walked deeply in love. He was rejected and exiled yet he did not call fire down. He has grown the capacity to handle power.

If God gives you all you are asking for, can you handle it?

If you had the power like Jesus did, would you stay on the cross?

Before you cry for it, take a pause and ask, “Can I handle it?”
