HE FOUND A CLUB THAT NIGHT

We resumed a month behind schedule at the Nigeria Law School. We were posted to Kano Campus. We knew we had backlogs to catch up with and a lot of workloads to sort. But one of our colleagues had another plan.

Once he offloaded his box, it was full of all manners of fancy shoes. He began to enquire about night clubs. Guess what, he actually spent the night outside the campus. He found a night club. He returned to give the report.

When you get into a new place, what is the first thing you look for? When you are transferred to a new city, what is the first place you look for? Some will seek fun. Some look for business opportunities. Some look for sex partners.

If you are a citizen of the kingdom of God, the first place you should seek is a company of believers.

Whenever Paul gets into a city, he seeks out a believers’ company.

One of those instances was at Phillipi. “And on the Sabbath day we went outside the city gate to the bank of the [Gangites] river, where we thought there would be a place of prayer, and we sat down and began speaking to the women who had come there.
ACTS 16:13 AMP

He did the same in Ephesus. While Apollos was in Corinth, Paul travelled through the interior of the province and arrived in Ephesus. There he found some disciples
Acts 19:1 GNT

When you find a believers company, plug-in fast. If you are a student, connect to a fellowship that will help you grow. If you are a worker and your work involves multiple transfers, connecting to a church will help your spiritual health. It becomes a platform for accountability. As a matter of fact, some of the help you need will be supplied by the believers in the land.

Be like Daniel also. Do not enter a new place and hide your identity. Let your identity be the magnet for the relationships that you build. The company you keep will be needed in the day of trouble.

Daniel was quick to connect to Shadrach, Meschach and Abednego from the training school. They became praying partners and helped each other along the path.

Daniel’s company chose a meal that would not violate their conscience. They all excelled together. When Daniel’s work placed his life at stake, they made it through together.

When you hide your identity, you can lose your inheritance. When you hide your identity, you will be offered things that are not convenient. When you hide your identity, you will end up denying the faith.
